The whisky, McAllen 1926 (The Macallan Adami 1926), described as the most popular Scotch, will be auctioned by Sotheby's in London on 18 November and open for pre-bidding from 1 November.

 The McCarlen 1926 is popular because it has been aged in sherry barrels for more than 60 years and has only 40 bottles, the oldest vintage whisky at the distillery.

 Sotheby's said 14 of the 40 bottles had McAllen's signature "Fine and Rare" label, and 12 bottles, including the lots to be auctioned next month, designed by Italian painter Valerio Adami.

 In 2019, Sotheby's sold one McAllen 1926 for £1.5 million (Port 14.135 million), a record for all bottled wines and bottled spirits sold at the time.

According to Sotheby (Jonny Fowle), McAllen 1926 is a whisky that every auctioneer wants to sell and every collector wants to own.
